One day I’ve worked on a project on my desktop for hours, but I wasn’t able to finish a important part. I saved the changes and uploaded to git, to work and finish the task later on my notebook… When I got to my destiny and opened the project, I was only seeing a white screen on Chrome. Looking at logs, no error was registered, and the white screen was there.

After hours of research to this white screen on CakePHP 2, I’ve noticed on Sublime Text that the project files were not using UTF-8 encoding. How that happened is a mistery, but as soon as I’ve used the right encoding, some strange character appeared at the first line of all my project files…

I removed the strange character and saved again, with UTF-8 this time. Just that solved my problem of white screen of death.

Hope this helps someone someday!
